It's Sooo Hot.....

A friend of mine sent this today:

It's Soooo Hot Here Right Now That.....

The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

The trees are whistling for the dogs.

The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

Hot water now comes out of both taps.

You can make sun tea instantly.

You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.

The temperature drops below 95 F (35 C) and you feel a little chilly.

You discover that in August it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.

You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.

Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, 'What if I get knocked out and endup lying on the pavement and cook to death?'

You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

The potatoes cook underground so all you have to do is pull one and add butter and salt.

Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.

The cows are giving evaporated milk.
STAY COOL!

I think this is the 10th day in August we've had 100 degrees or above. This is the hottest it's been here in recorded history. This weather is helping Al Gore's agenda right along, isn't it?

The children have really enjoyed their pool this summer but have not been in it all this week... the water's too warm. I can tell the pool water is evaporating quickly. I wish I would have measured it from the beginning of this heat wave.
It's not pretty and I'm certainly not trying to make a fashion statement but I have put my king-sized navy blue flannel sheet set to good use in the middle of the summer by hanging the flat sheet over the patio window and the two pillowcases over my kitchen window. I also have a single navy pillowcase over my back door window. I'm normally one who likes to let the sun shine in! But I have found it necessary to take these measures because of the lack of shade trees to shelter from the afternoon sun. It seems to help a little, but boy, it sure is dark in here!

I can't believe you're shutting out the sun. I mean...me and my Lilly white family do, but I can't believe you are. I try to stay in but every now and then I venture out, only to find that I sweat in new and surprising places.
